mehargags Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 HiIm looking how to extract .PQI file. these PowerQuest Image files which is now owned by symantec Ghost. after much googling around, many sites said ghost package contains "Backup Image Browser" application in which i can open & explore PQI files.I got Ghost 8.3 but the ghost image explorer doesnt open these files..& i have not been able to find any Image Browser application in it.Acutallly I got a toshiba laptop satelllite M-70. I formatted it. The toshiba sites do not provide any device drivers as such, they get u to download a "config free" utility which is an image that installs all drivers.I managed to get all the drivers, except the one's for the CARD READER.The support DVD has this file LDZIW020.PQI 1.2gb in size. Im sure in case i can open this file i'll be able to extract the required drivers. thx
Littlebr00k Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 The application is called PQIBrowser.exe and should be located under %ProgramFiles%\Symantec\Norton Ghost\Browser\PQIBrowser.exeNot sure if its installed automatically or need to select it as an install option.
mehargags Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 (edited) ok thxactually 8.3 doesnt have it. Version 9 does. But my badluck. Toshiba guyz are smart enough. They bloody protected it with password. Is there a way to break password on that PQI files ? Edited May 5, 2006 by mehargags
LLXX Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Which program reads and restores using that image file? It must know the password.Inspect the program in a hex editor or similar.Basically you have been given the lock and the key, you just have to find the key.
Joey Camel Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 ok, ok . . . this is a topic of 2006 . . . PowerQuest Configuration Center Toolkit 2.0 user guide:sysdoc.doors.ch/POWERQUEST/PQConfig_manual.pdf"A runtime configuration file (RTC) is supplied for each version of PQIExtract. The RTC file has the same name as the corresponding executable.Any PQIExtract command or group of commands can be added to the RTC file.A common command to embed in the RTC file is the PQI file password. This hides the password from customers and protects the PQI file from restoration, except by those with access to the proper RTC file.""Command parameters are specified by placing a space or an equal sign, “=”, after the command, followed by a parameter value. PWD <password> provides PQI password. If a partition within the PQI is encrypted, you can use this command to provide the password. You must specify this command before you specify the name of the PQI file (using the PQI command)."JC
