My DVD+RW drive is dead

I have big problem with my DVD+RW i can`t burn , boot , play cd`s and it is quit new it is from Februar 2005? I have try to reinstal xp reboot my pc and press F12 when press under 5 : IDE CD-ROM nothing happen i also can`t see any files under my computer when i use windows explorer?

Wondows based Flash Utility to update NEC HH 8X DVD+RW ND-2100A

I try to update the firmware to my Nec my that made the problem even worst after the pc reboote it make the monitor screen black but when i press control>alt>delete i get the windows login page type my password but is it possible to rollback to my old nec firmware call 103D? the new is 106F it is for sure giving my pc problems and it have not help to solve my problem my nec drive is still dead? it also seems that it is for the NEC ND-2100A HH 8X DVD+RW and mine is a NEC ND-2100AD 8X DVD+RW ? Please help me rollback the firmware?

To rollback, just find the correct firmware and reflash. I did try to find the firmware for you, but your drive's not listed:

I wouldn't trust the firmware from anyone other than the manufacturer themselves, but it's worth a try reflashing the drive.

Thank you all for your help dell was her this morning to replace the drive they replace it with the same one as the old a NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD so it works now.
