For all the ones who thought that 754 was outdated, here I have some thing to read for you.

Just a quote:

Despite the need for more complex interfaces to support multi-core processors, AMD's existing socket 754 will be outlasting the more complex socket 939. Currently, socket 939 is home to AMD's Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2 and Athlon 64 FX processors while socket 754 is for Sempron. According to AMD documentation, all socket 939 processors will stop shipping Q2 2007 with final orders occurring nearly half a year before end-date. AMD Roadmaps have socket 939 end of life (EOL) in Q4'06, while socket 754 is EOL Q4'07.

I love S754, always defended it ;)

i am soon going to be purchasing a Skt754 Ahtlon64 3700+ as i have seen that its based on the FX-53 but doesnt feature the dual channel memory architecture and can perform just as well as the 939 chips.

well the dual channel is a downside. i like the s939 tho, having dual core is nice. ending production of both of these sockets is just another way of amd making people buy AM2.

Also this information about the socket (A)M2 CPU prices is interesting. Any one has some information about the motherboards? DDR2 RAM is already in the same price range as DDR RAM.
