ASP.NET Machine Account

Featured Replies

The other day i was browsing the properties of the user accounts on my pc and came to find an account that i didn't set up, ASP.NET Machine Account. I'm presuming this is an automatic account created by a hotfix or the .NET framework as i don't really check user accounts too often.

yes, this is account created by .NET Framework, i think you should leave it as is....

thing is why should it need to create a new user account, and for it to be passworded. I've tried to log in a couple of time using different relevant passwords like my main admin password but no success

It's harmless. I have deleted it in the past out of paranoia, but I just leave it now (probably out of paranoia as well ) Truthfully, the account is some kind of dummy authentication for Microsoft's ASP.NET Connection Model, although I'm too lazy to research what it is for. :)

you can delete the account, its useless and have no effect after removal.
