I currently am running 1gb of DDR266 memory and have been told it would make a big difference if I upgraded to DDR333.

Is this true or would the difference be unnoticable?

To put it simply it would be faster.

Noticable... depends what you use your PC for, for games and music then you will notice things speeding up a bit more...

If you are going to upgrade make sure your mobo supports DDR333 RAM.

it depends. do you plan on running it at 333 or 266?

if you can only run it at 266, not really going to be a day to day difference, even tho you should be able to run it at quicker timings.

Im currently this minute gonna buy some Corsair 512mb DDR RAM 3200.

Gonna be sweet stuff

Thing is i love my mobo manual :)

wildkat.. what kind of cpu?

if its amd... make sure you run the fsb and mem speed in sync. they perform like crap with them out of sync aka fsb at 266, but mem set to 333.

Well instead of doing that just go Here! And Tweak it up.

My PC2100 Ram is going faster than PC2700 No Joke :)

Well ive also got my FSB OverClocked from 266mhz to 290mhz

Also if your FSB wont be running at 333 then using 333 ram will make you go slower.

You should always run your ram at the same Clock as your FSB, a Synchronous ram/fsb clock = allot better.

So what if I was to buy an Intel P4 3.06GHz with 800MHz FSB? There's no DDR Modules that run at 800MHz yet, far from it. :/

true, but they use 400mhz ddr which can is a multiple of 800mhz. but does that mean a 533mhz bus is more suited to 266mhz ddr (266 x 2 = 533)?? it may have to do with differences between athlon and p4 as athlon uses slower fsb. nonetheless, im confused! :)

Well, If you're thinking about running in sync the correct would be:

CPU: 533mhz / 4 = 133mhz

Ram: 133mhz x 2 = 266mhz

CPU: 666mhz / 4 = 166mhz

Ram: 166mhz x 2 = 333mhz

CPU: 800mhz / 4 = 200mhz

Ram: 200mhz x 2 = 400mhz

So ya! A 533 FSB P4 would run in sync with DDR266 ram!

This Abit Canterwood mobo I'm getting supports Dual DDR, so if I bought 2x 512MB DDR400 Memory sticks, that would make it 1GB 800MHz? or 512MB 800MHz? or 1GB 400MHz? (lol)

hmmm if that's so then what's Dual DDR supposed to do? Google was a bit useless for this kind of question :)
