Stick with IE 5.0 or go to 6

Featured Replies

Hello,

I just used the recovery CDs to get an old Compaq 900 mHz up and running. Is there any good reason not to upgrade to IE and OE 6 versions? Does 98 SE take a big performance hit by the upgrade. Just wondering.

This box has 512 meg of ram and plenty of HD space.

I tried to import my O-E6 address book and messages, but it was a no-go.

Sincerely,

Ron N.

I've been using IE 5.5 for a few years now with none of the problems that users normally complain about... it just has to be configured with the correct security settings to be safe.

Unless there are sites that specifically require a feature of IE 6.0, then I see no reason to upgrade.
