fireware Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I have a Creative Zen Xtra Mp3 plaer. There is a probem with the screen. There is a bar that is blocking the top half of the screen , making it so I can't see the track name. or anything else on the top. is there a way to fix this
CptMurphy Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Updating the firmware might fix the issue but it's doubtful. Could you maybe include a picture so as to better see what the bar looks like? If the bar just recently appeared the player is proabably bad. If it came like that, the player is also proabably bad. Either way, search the creative knowledge base to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue and if there are any fixes for it.
fireware Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Cracked screen or defective LCD controller?the screen doesn't appear to be cracked. I did not power it on for a long time, as I did not have the power adapter. Before the battery needed charged, (and it sat) the screen worked fine.

CptMurphy Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 That looks like your lcd is messed up. I seriously doubt firmware upgrade will help out.
LLXX Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Problem is with the LCD controller or the contacts.Press on the area surrounding the LCD (*not* the LCD surface itself) and see if the top half comes back. If it does, then it's the contacts that are loose.

LLXX Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 The display comes back when you press on the edges? The elastomeric connector strip probably loosened...BTW it looks like this: http://www.zaxisconnector.com/LCD-Connectors.shtmlYou might be able to fix it by taking it apart and putting a strip of thick paper under the clamping edge of the LCD to push it harder against the connector.
