does anybody know of a free firewall that runs good and takes up very little resources?

Zone Alarm maybe?

Or you can shop around on eBay for some nice Linksys routers with firewalls included with them...

The firewall included in XP is good, but since you are using W2K I would suggest Zone Alarm.

i need this for a client of mines pc. running 98se. i think i'll try the sygate or kerio thanks

the reason i don't like zonalarm is i deal with alot in my field and it'a always a pain in the a**.

i use blackice on my server and i like it does a great job..

HEhe blackice yeah, LOL that firewall might aswell be backdoored for all the use it does. mate there are so many holes in blackice its untrue for sure its either ZA pro make sure its a pro edition not the freebiez or sygate depending on if your a novice or not. Sygate enables you to configure certain rule sets etc etc whereas for userbility its ZA hands down.
