RJARRRPCGP Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 (edited) 1. Bochs2. Qemu3. VMWareBecause I'm having a major problem with Qemu. I want it to boot from a real floppy disk, but it won't even try to! I don't even see the floppy disk drive LED light up! It immediately goes to:Boot from Floppy 0 failedFATAL: Could not read the boot disk. Edited February 22, 2006 by RJARRRPCGP
Scubar Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 (edited) vmware wins hands down in pc emulation. surprised u didnt list virtual pc in there although even if u did vmware would still be the best choice. Edited February 23, 2006 by ScubaSteve
LLXX Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I'd recommend VMware.Make sure your system is powerful enough though... emulation is much slower than running directly on the hardware.
RJARRRPCGP Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 Make sure your system is powerful enough though... emulation is much slower than running directly on the hardware. It's probably fine. It's not like I'm trying to emulate a PlayStation 2! LOL!
KRYOGENIUS Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 HelloYou have 1. Bochs2. Qemu3. VMWare4. Virtual PC (Microsoft )5- PearPC (If you want Mac on x86!)++
Anusha Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I have tried VMWare Workstation (4.5, 5, 5.5) and Virtual PC (with SP1) and all that I can say is even though VMWare supports more OSes and more features and is faster, VirtualPC is very smooth and stable. I'm currently using VirtualPC. It's good enough for eveything I want to do.
