PC emulation for testing a Windows OS

1. Bochs

2. Qemu

3. VMWare

Because I'm having a major problem with Qemu. I want it to boot from a real floppy disk, but it won't even try to! I don't even see the floppy disk drive LED light up! It immediately goes to:

Boot from Floppy 0 failed

FATAL: Could not read the boot disk.

vmware wins hands down in pc emulation. surprised u didnt list virtual pc in there although even if u did vmware would still be the best choice.

I'd recommend VMware.

Make sure your system is powerful enough though... emulation is much slower than running directly on the hardware.

It's probably fine. It's not like I'm trying to emulate a PlayStation 2! LOL!

I have tried VMWare Workstation (4.5, 5, 5.5) and Virtual PC (with SP1) and all that I can say is even though VMWare supports more OSes and more features and is faster, VirtualPC is very smooth and stable.

I'm currently using VirtualPC. It's good enough for eveything I want to do.
