gdkehl
Hello,I originally had missing file problems with a win2k unattend install that was fixed by using the original driver.cab file instead of the one from the sourcess folder.I have another missing file problem; this time with xp and using the original driver.cab file won't fix. The missing files are: amdk7.sys, mssbios.sys, and tunmp.sys.I did a search for this and came up empty in the forum. However, I found thishttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/q306458Any suggestions? If I slip q306458 will this fix the prob?thanks
tommyp
I know these are dumb questions, but I have seen bad copies from a cd to hard drive. Are you sure that your original source driver.cab and your sp4.cab are ok? Have you tested your source folder to ensure that your source is OK prior to slipstreaming? Any luck on attaching your error_report file? Can't do much more without it.
Super-Magician
@gdkehl,Just a head's up - if you use the original driver.cab file from the SOURCE folder, you will lose most, if not all, of what HFSLIP slipstreamed.-- Super-Magician Edited February 8, 2006 by Super-Magician

gdkehl
I tried Q306458_WxP_SP1_x86_enu.exe from MS, no luck there. If I use my original cd everything works and there is not an amdk7.sys inside driver.cab.I beleive one of the updates slipped into i386 makes amdk7.sys necessary. The hard part is figuring out which one. My xp cd works and my unattend prior to adding hotfixes works. This is the post from the problem I had with win2khttp://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=58652&st=0That was fixed by using the original driver.cab. hfslip's driver.cab was only half the size and missing files. Now, with XP the hfslip driver.cab was about 3MB smaller but the original driver.cab doesn't have the files the system is looking for during install. Super-Magician
As I said before, if you use the original driver.cab, you will lose everything HFSLIP slipstreamed. When you run HFSLIP, it will repack the slipstreamed binaries and files back into driver.cab.Also, please use the latest version of HFSLIP, 60206.-- Super-Magician
gdkehl
A new version already.Super-Magician, I have tried both driver.cab files after using hfslip; neither work. Before using hfslip my system wasn't looking for the 3 files it is now looking for. I'll try the new version of hfslip and see if I get the files my system reports as missing. Tomcat76
Which driver merging option are you choosing? I just finished rewriting the SPX.CAB section and am about to test it. If it works 100%, I'll pass it on to TommyP.So far, I never had a problem with A, B and C.

Tomcat76
i386 in the sourcess folder does not contain any sp.cabsThat's the point of merging the cabs. Is it there in the SOURCE, and does that cab contain the three files you are missing?should there be a sp3.cab that hfslip created in the sourcess\i386 folder???No. HFSLIP doesn't create a numbered cab file. If you choose merging option D, E or F, you do get an additional spx.cab file if required.
