well i have a same prob.. downloading too much and yet i didnt actually do any :)

well i am on a 56k connection and has really improved my speed on downloads and surfing.. bout 0.5 - 1.0 kb downloading better.. loading pages takes hell lot less.. :)

well there wrong.. i've noticed a good difference and i checked my isp and they haven't done anything to the server so its gotta be it :)

I simply deselect QoS during install... am I missing something?

(I'm describing this from memory, so please overlook obvious boofs)

When clean installing Win, the first GUI options you get should be International/Language settings. The next one I believe is Network Options, you get the choice of Typical or Custom. If one chooses Custom, you then have the option of checking (or un-checking) QoS, TCP/IP, Client for MS Networks, and Printer and File Sharing.
