hakeem5454 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 when i tried using my webcam, i noticed that the green led light wasnt on. so i thought it was unhooked, even though it was. I tried reconnecting it and this is what it said.(look at pic)malfunction.bmp

hakeem5454 Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 i tried that..i tried installing a new driver, i tried uninstalling the old one and installing it again, i tried reconnecting it, i tried everything. still no luck
LLXX Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Be careful with USB devices. Even though they say you can unplug/plug them while the system is on, do it carefully. Otherwise it's very easy to damage the USB controller from static charge. Happened to an old mobo I had... just unplugged a cable and forever that port never worked again...
hakeem5454 Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 ok, if i did that by accident, i dont remember me doin that, but i tried it in other usb ports too and it still said the same thing..
Jeremy Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Uninstall drivers, unplug the device, reboot, reinstall drivers and upgrade them if available, reboot and plug device back in. Did you follow this exact procedure? If you leave the device plugged in and the device uses Windows generic drivers, it will just reload them from the Driver Cache, so any newer drivers aren't properly installed and you might end up with a driver conflict.
