How do obtain my CD-Key from winxp?

Hi,

I lost my winxp folder. I have the Academic winxp pro upgrade edition($95).It comes in a cool looking folder, anyhow I lost that folder with my key and cd. But luckly my brother still has his copy, so I was hoping if there is a way I can find the CD-Key I installed on my comp?

I know it can't be the serial # on the my computer::>properties area.

If anyone can help me out, I'd be much obliged.

The answer is you don't. When you enter your WPA code or VLK @ setup, it passes that information to PIDGEN.DLL, which does a little magic and pops out your PID as a result. The PID is located here:

HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionProductID

Unless you can find a program that will do it in reverse (PID -> WPA/VLK code) then you're S.O.L.
