Problem with Task Manager

Hi,

We're using Win XP Home. I f user X starts Task Manager he gets an incomplete result. If user Y starts Task Manager he gets a good result. Why? Where does taskmgr.exe gets its parameters to display the Task Manager screen.

are both users loading EXACTLY the same apps/background apps at windows boot?

are both of the same member group?

do both have the same s/w installed?

do both have the same OS preferences set?

there's lots of reasons.

Task Manager options are per user. Be sure user X has the "Show processes from all users" option checked.

Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) and navigate to:

HKCU \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

In the right-pane, double-click DisableTaskMgr and set it's data to 0

That option is at the bottom of the Processes tab.

By "incomplete result" I assume you mean user X doesn't show all running processes?

I am guessing that is what he means Memnoch. Doesnt it depend on the user's control level? I mean if the user is an admin level user they will get to see everything but if someone is a guest they get to see only their processes that they spawned dont they? Is he probably talking about something like that?
