I know you guys might think I'm paranoid asking this question, but can anyone send me the latest version of CoolWebSearch to test? I want to see how the software works and *hopefully* manage to immunize my project from infection :D.

look at pr0n for about 30 minutes in internet explorer... you'll know soon enough

Lol but I need the actual executable :D.

try downloading crap that you'd never look for

like britnet spears desktop icons etc in internet explorer :) and screensavers etc

Some of the variants even used methods of hiding and running themselves that had never been used before in any other spyware strains.

Makes me want to obtain it even more :P! Is there some way to save the drive-by download file onto my computer?

HAHAHA!!!

yeah, that'd be the ultimate test.

Disable your ActiveX and scripting of the browser, then visit some of the more ad-infested and suspicious sites and view the source code. Embedded somewhere in the scripting code should be the link to the actual executable (quite often, it's named SETUP.EXE). Just download that and you have the self-contained malware.
