We had a tornado today, everything is OK except my GF is mad. Some how when the power went out it messed up windows. She had some things on there she cant retreive. How can I burn the stuff on her computer if it wont get past the screen"Windows wasnt properly shut down" Any option I choose just stants the process over again.

Thanks guys

Next time I will partition her drive in 2. 1 for windows and 1 for storage.

Have you tried taking the drive out and sticking it in another computer to backup the stuff? :}

If you don't have another machine you could always do a parallel install of Windows (without reformatting...just install into something like C:\WinBack). Then backup the files and completely reinstall the machine.

Gah, don't do that.

Just do a windows repair.

Boot the machine using the Windows CD, when you get the choice for Recovery Console or Setup, hit [Enter] and start the setup, it'll find the old installation of windows and ask you what you want to do with it, delete, install in a different directory or repair, just hit [R] and it'll start repairing the Windows installation.

It looks just like a windows installation, you go through the same steps, but when it starts up the first time, you'll see that everything is exactly the same, just without drivers. Re-install the drivers and you're on your way. :)
