Scubar Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) i have a friend who i chat to alot on the internet as they live in the US who wants me todo an XP Home nLited Unattened install cd for them as they liked all the screenshots i showed them of my modified XP Pro CD. unfortunately i dont have a copy of XP Home to nLite and none of my friends around here have XP Home either they all seem to have Pro or MCE. i have been trying to download a copy of Xp Home from somewhere ( Cant download from them as they have 56k and it would take forever ) so that i can get started on it. the problem is that im not sure of the exact size a legitimate XP Home SP2 Retail US should be. so i was hoping someone would be able to tell me how large it is without any modification so that get a clean source ready to be nLited and modified. ( i have downloaded a copy already that turned out to be 409MB and seems to have just the entire Lang folder emptied and only has support and Docs folder in CD Root so im not sure if this would be a clean source without the languages or not)( If the mentioning of downloading a copy of XP Home is deemed as warez i apologize, i do already own a XP Pro Cd so i dont think it should be.) Jeremy Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Why go to all the hassle when you already have Pro? Pro has Remote Desktop! Also more Adminstrative features and domain support. Save yourself the hassle.
K e n Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Earlier on in the year I slipstreamed Sp2 into a virgin non servicepacked XP Home..The standard iso without anything added or removed is 409mb with Sp2integrated.
Scubar Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 i know i already have pro jeremy but this is for a friend from the states that has no clue about computers. i explained what i did to my xp pro and they said they would like it if i could do the same for there xp home, so i kindly said i would do it once i got a copy of xp home to modify for them, many thanks Ken.
Andromeda43 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Yes Steve,,,,if you made a nLited CD for them and used your Pro version, that would be illegal, if you really give a dang. XP Home is a stripped down and crippled version of Windows XP and should be totally eradicated, if possible and wherever possible. The only real FIX for a screwed up XP-Home is to overlay it with an upgrade CD using XP-Pro/SP2. That fixes the problems every time. Good luck Steve,Happy Holidays,Andromeda43
