BradBo Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 Hi,I am trying to install a Shuttle USB 2.0 card (PCI) in a PII 266 machine. The motherboard is an ASUS TXP4.I put the card in and start the driver cd but I get to a "ERROR cant id the device" screen that stops me.How can I get my system to recognize the card?Any help would be appriciated.Brad
Doggie Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 i'm guessin this os would be 95 or 98.. if thats the case, just install with the provided CD.. i had a friend with the same problem.. it didn't detect and manually installed it
Drewdatrip Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 You might have some issues with Win95 or even 98 first edition..they had some bug issues with usb....=Drew
Doggie Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 yeh drew.. should of said that.. i upgraded his pc to 98 se and plus98
BradBo Posted May 8, 2003 Author Posted May 8, 2003 Win98.I took a really good look at the mobo. There seems to be a gray 16 prong female port labled "usb/mib" that my mouse is wired to.This is kind of a dated system.Do you think that port might have a conflict?
BradBo Posted May 8, 2003 Author Posted May 8, 2003 Yea,OK.I will get an upgrade version of W98 from a friend and try that.Does W98 recognize the new USB version 2.0 speed though?
zipp51 Posted May 9, 2003 Posted May 9, 2003 I agree with Drew, only winxp sp1 offer native support for usb2.0,anything else with win98se and above need vendor drivers supplied with the card.
