.PsychoMerc. Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 I might have to give this a go this summer, sounds entertaining.
rstryker Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 OK you prob think im an id*** but...where do you copy the DX9 file to your CD?I followed the directions on that first link for the reghack but when install was done it said Cant Find Reghack.cmd i added to winnnt.sif[GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\reghacks.cmdi made reghacks.cmd in D:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\Install withCLS@echo OFFECHO.ECHO Installing Registry Hacks ...REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\SuperTweak.regand i put SuperTweak.reg in the same folder.is this right?whats with the $1 folder?
Aaron Posted June 2, 2003 Author Posted June 2, 2003 the $1 tells all subs folders in that $1 folder to be copied to your hard drive.Everything looks right, but you said "Cant Find Reghack.cmd" did you forget the 's' as in Reghacks.cmd? And for DX9, put it anywhere in the Install folder. Better to put it in its own dedicated folder:/$1/Install/DX9/
rstryker Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 the $1 tells all subs folders in that $1 folder to be copied to your hard drive.just tried again with dx9 added in.cant find c:\install\reghacks.cmdcant find c:\install\dx9a\reghacks.cmdit is not copying the install file to the hard drive.any idea why?i have it in I:\$OEM$\$1\Installshould the $OEM$ folder be in the I386 folder?
Aaron Posted June 2, 2003 Author Posted June 2, 2003 aha I think I know why. This happened to me too lolIn your Winnt.sif, you should have this under [unattended]:OemPreinstall=YesThis will tell setup that there are OEM files to be copied to the hard disk (that's the reghacks, dx9 and whatever else you've added).Add OemSkipEula=Yes as well, that'll skip the EULA that nobody reads Since you are doing it from CD, it's correct that the $oem$ folder stays in the root of the CD, and not inside the /i386 folder.
Cal2002 Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 it would be GREAT if someone could make an little app that help in the making of a Super CD like this one/
Aaron Posted June 2, 2003 Author Posted June 2, 2003 it would be GREAT if someone could make an little app that help in the making of a Super CD like this one/That's a great idea Cal, an app that asks you what reg tweaks you want applied, programs you want installed, the location of these programs, then the app puts it together in one directory and creates the necessary batch files. It would probably be difficult to make since there are many combinations to an unattended installation.
Cal2002 Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 well u could make an app to do the basic stuff then their already a "GOOD" guide to do unattended installs. just make the basic app without support for doing unattended installs and just have that edited by hand or something like that
Drewdatrip Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 A unattended app would be very cool...maybe some of our local programers could look in to it?=Drew
sadatkarim Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 let me reword that.."that would be an awesome app!"
malukitojr Posted June 8, 2003 Posted June 8, 2003 Aaron you're sooo cool! this idea u came up with its very handy
