November 21, 200520 yr This is probably a spyware, dont follow these instructions, try to disconnect from the internet and then run adaware and install antivirus/firewall before going back online.
November 21, 200520 yr You should be OK. Go to this site for a guide on how to disable windows messanger service which is most likely behind these popups. Link: http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/ .Just make sure that you have installed all of the latest windows updates (SP2 should have out a stop to this). Makesure your antivirus and antispyware is up to date and working properly.
November 21, 200520 yr Author thanks for the info both but theres still the windows massenger icon in the notification area.i uninstalled the messenger with the add/remove program but it's still there. it's annoying to me
November 22, 200520 yr no he means the windows messenger service.try going to run and typing "services.msc" and then find "messenger" right click it and disable it.then it will stop thanks
November 22, 200520 yr yes... assuming running windows xp... disable it in control panel/admin tools/services choose disable messenger...also dont forget to stop the service
