smithxi Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I'm giving this laptop to my Mom now and I've renamed the account, but I'm wondering if it's possible to rename the root my documents folder, because it still has my name on it, and how i would go about doing that.
Doc Symbiosis Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 (edited) Just rename the folder and change the registry value "Personal" contained inHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shellfolders. Edited November 18, 2005 by Doc Symbiosis
smithxi Posted November 19, 2005 Author Posted November 19, 2005 I rename the path to the other name and restart and it goes back to my name for the my documents folder. do i need to change all the values in that folder? why isn't this working?
JRosenfeld Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Crerate a new account for whatever username your mom wants to use, then delete your username account.
smithxi Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 i thought it wouldn't have the same powers then.
Sonic Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Just rename the folder and change the registry value "Personal" contained inHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shellfolders.Wrong, it's [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders] key.
smithxi Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 okay and the definition of personal there is %USERPROFILE%\My Documents
Sonic Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Edit desktop.ini in My Documents folder too ...
smithxi Posted November 21, 2005 Author Posted November 21, 2005 i guess i'm asking which part of it to edit. %USERPROFILE% seems like a value not a replacable string.
smithxi Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 hello hello vertigo, can anyone help me?
