November 9, 200520 yr Hi guys!I have the 16 Port Dlink Switch 10/100 I need to add additional ports. Can I add the 4 Port LINKSYS BEFSR41 Etherfast Cable/DSL router to gain the additional ports I need? How to add it.Thanks for any replies!
November 10, 200520 yr The switch would have to go into the router. That might work. Some routers might not like that but see if it will work. The switch just acts like a hob in most cases.
November 11, 200520 yr It's only when you are connecting a router to a router that you have to deal with configuration. Adding a swich should just work as long as you use a crossover cable.
November 11, 200520 yr yes... connect a crossover cable from the Dlink to a lan port on the linksys and you will be all set
November 12, 200520 yr you could check the switch documentation, if it auto-mdx's, you wouldn't even need a crossover

November 14, 200520 yr Don't Use the WAN port. Use a regular cable and go from the uplink port on one of the devices to a regular port on the other. If you already bought a crossover cable and just want use it then go between the two uplink ports. You will not get all 4 ports from the linksys. You can only use 3 ports and 4 is coupled with the uplink.
