Crispy Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 I would sign up for the No-ip.com DNS service. It has an option to update the IP as a windows service, which will be invisible to the user! ... So asuming that the thief is stupid enough to go online, without reinstalling everything, the IP will be updated and you will be able to check it at no-ip.com! ... the cool bonus is, of course, that you get a very good DNS service too You can create a free account here.=Crispy
Aaron Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 Nice idea Crispy There's also an app that logs your keystrokes to an internet server, in the event that a thief goes online and types out words that could point to where he lives, names etc. So you can check online to see what's been typed from your stolen PC/Laptop.I don't have the site URL at hand I'm afraid, I didn't quite trust cos I had the assumption it was probably spyware that could log my passwords etc.
MSNwar Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 PC Phone Home is what I used in the past when I rented notebooks. The management responds very fast and professionally when such an incident happens.

gamehead200 Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 BTW, (while looking through all the old topics), if you're still interested, there is also something called IP Monster...Sends the IP by e-mail every time it changes...
