colemancb Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I found a 160GB Retail Segate SATA drive for $112 dollars on newegg, but I also found an OEM Maxtor Diamondmax 300GB drive for around $120, and wanted to know if the speed that SATA gives it worth it. Almost double the space, which I probably will never fill up for 8 dollars more is a great deal, but I want to know if the speed that Sata gives is worth the lesser space. I probably wouldn't fill the 160GB drive either.
ringfinger Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 If space considerations aren't much of a factor in your purchase I would most definately go with the SATA. Just be sure you've got a sata controller on your mobo of course.
ripken204 Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 what mobo you have? sata is faster and sataII is even faster but if you have an old mobo then it most likely only supports ide.
suryad Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 And if u get sata 2 or sata 2.5 whichever make sure u get the ncq technology enabled hdds as well....
