lleoliveira Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 What is the best Kernel32.dll for Win9x?Many people say that WinMe has many bugs, others say that Win95 it's the Win9x OS that has less problems, but the most people prefer Win98.eventually, what is the best kernel32.dll for Win9x?Is it possible to replace for example kernel32 in Win98 by WinMe or Win95 kernel? What others files are necessary to replace?
miko Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 (edited) it's possible to use the explorer.exe from 95 in 98se,thereby cutting out the internet explorer integration, gives extra speed but has a few issues (maybe ok for gaming)http://www.litepc.com/kernel ? kernel32.dll ? 4.10.2225 (03 April 2002) for win98se from the service pack of course don't know about winMe never owned it (not planning to start)http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=46349 Edited August 23, 2005 by miko

Petr Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Recently i downloaded Everest Ultimate 2.20.But always when i go to Operation System, processes i receive a error like in theI tried it on my system - W98SE, SESP2.01, all updates - and it never happened in Operating System -> Processes. It happened once on exit only, the error was similar, GPF in GDI.EXE.I was not able to reproduce this error.I've reported the error here: http://www.lavalys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=816Petr
miko Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 2.20 seems to be quite buggy (in my experience) compared with previous releases,it doesn't recognise my processor at all or m/b cpu sensor unlike 2.01 i have to say i deleted it and went back to using 2.01 after this became evidenti will still try out any new releases though...

I don't believe 2.20 it's bugged, i think i'ts some problem on my OS, but i'm not sure.My OS is: Win98SE without: (Internet Explorer "many directX files" Msn Messenger, Windows Media Player, etc)Packs: All Win98SE updates, 98SE2ME and Revolutions Pack.
miko Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 (edited) well mines is 98SE with IE6, WMP9, DX9 (no messenger or outlook express)just the service pack no 98SE2ME or Revolutions Pack.maybe there just not testing on 98SE anymore still newset versions aren't always best, there was quite a lot removed from the free EVEREST around the 1.5 mark or so (i still keep a copy tucked away somewhere) if the functionalty you need is there and working ok do you really need to upgrade to the latest ?i still use CPU-Z version 1.25 for this reason, and a few other programs for similar ones, things like Nero 5.5, PSP 7, Winamp 2.95 etc Edited August 25, 2005 by miko
rainyd Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 This is really strange guys because Everest Ultimate 2.20 works without any problems on my PC (Win98SE+ SP2.02 including also DirectX 9.0c, IE 6.0, WMP 9.0). Btw, IMO this is one of the best diagnostic tools.
lleoliveira Posted August 26, 2005 Author Posted August 26, 2005 But always when i go to Operation System, processes i receive a error like in the screenshot. It's a Revolutions Pack problem. Tihiy said that he will try to fix the problem.
