Good News and bad

Featured Replies

Well

The good news is that I have just got me a new lap top with xp pro installed (by Elonex)

the bad news is that the disk I got was a recovery disk - i.e. not an oem disk of xp pro.

this make the difficult task of me seperating out the files so I can build a uanattended CD.

I have attached a thumbnail of a snapshot of the disk.

has anybody any experience of ripping a os system out of a factory issue disk.

the documentation says that M$ are not supplying disks seperatly now.....

any advice appreciated as to what files would be required to make a pucka disk.

thanks

;)

Look's like an XP CD root to me

They must change a lot of files within. take a lot of work on your part

.

So would it be difficult to do then?

no, I did a Unattended CD from a recovery disc for my Rock Direct laptop. The i386 folder is fine, you will find however, that there is already a WINNT.SIF file, oeminfo.ini file, with further additions in the components and the $OEM$ folders. It should be a simple task if not easier, as you will only need to edit your laptop manufacturers unattended setup (which is probably only hidden screens) and then compile it.

i'd agree with himwotisme, it shouldn't be to bad to do.

If you visit, http://unattended.msfn.org, read and follow you'll get the gist of what Elonex have done and then you can modify to make your own from this basis s most work has been done

Well on to try the new stuff on XP then. Been running unattends with 2k up to now.

A normal XP CD doesn't have the $OEM$ folders

grtz

Ow didn't read himwotisme's post right. sorry
