Clint Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Can you tell me the reason why you wanna go this way?Is it coz you have a laptop with no CD/DVD drive and/or no PXE utility?
horsecharles Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 hhmmm, guess no divine guidance from above for you on this one result #1 on google: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;326673Another n00b pwned! back to my lair to await the next one
ringfinger Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I'm trying to do the same thing with Vista. However, I've never tried to install XP from a HD either. My basic thought... I have a 40 internal drive on my laptop, no DVD drive. The drive is partitioned at 10gb/30gb, I figured there must be a way to copy the installations files to C:\ (10gb) and install Vista/XP via that drive to D:\ (30gb). May be a pipe dream, but if at all possible I'd like to know how. I've read in other places to copy the i386 folder to C:\ and use a Win98 boot disk to intialize the install to D:\, but not sure. Any ideas would be great. TIA

Yourself?

sarkar Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 i think it is the setup files...most probably it is corrupt or not present.. you have to copy all files.. not the i386 directory only.....
