NTFS Permission

hi guys

i had windowx xp sp2 (on c:\windows) and set permission for my E:\ drive that only Administrators\XXX had full access to that drive, and other users have no access to read ro write, for some reasone i had clean install of windows xp sp2 on my c:\ drive.

and i lost my pervious version of windows xp.

after install, i find out that i have no access to E:\ and i can not set any permission on that drive, even i can not formatted !!!

does any body know that should i do ?

If it was not encrypted, you can access it from DOS, with a tool like this:

http://www.datapol.de/dpe/freeware/

you copy the data onto another drive, than format the partition from DOS and restore the data.

Or you could try re-taking ownership/permissions with a tool like this:

you should be able to retake ownership of it then resetting the permissions on the drive

1. Disable Simple File Sharing.

2. Then you can go to the Security Tab and add your own account or Group to the ACL. No need to use any other tools.
