CPU and Video card

That is true. But what is more important is to make sure that you have the proper motherboard too. Check to see if you motherboard supports 8x AGP.

As for processor, your current one should do fine. I think anything over 1.4 GHz will handle that card.

I am not a gamer, so I don't know for sure.

but will it work at a decent performance?

Not as good as it could....

I have a GeForce 6200, just a bit lesser than yours, but mine is a PCI-Express card instead of AGP, and mine is running with an Athlon 64 3200+ (2ghz)....

If you're going to get a card as good as that , get a better processor.... If it allows 8x AGP, the n get a board that will allow 8x AGP....

Running that kind of card with such a slow FSB (frontside bus) is not good, your FSB speed is 266mhz, mine is 2000........ My card runs ok, but it probably could go a bit better, which means that yours will probably not perform as well as you'd like it too....

Go out and treat yourself, get a AMD64 processor, a new mobo, and some DDR ram, you'll enjoy it........

Yeah, same here, 15yo...... Anyway.... It will work good enough for now, I just thought you were programming and you were going to be upset at anything less than perfect performance.....

The system that is listed below my message was built for only $600, pretty good for that price....

Keep savin' the money.... :thumbup

wow $600 only? *copies down specs* =D, dont mind if i use it someday haha. if only i can imagine. but i will only use it for gaming. im not into those video edditing stuff. i read This Topic on nVidia Forums and the person has a very close concern as mine but his specs are a bit slower than my comp. and the 6600gt works fine on his computer. so i guess it should work fine on mines. =D. that is after i replace my Crap PSU for this Enermax and 1gb more ddr ram =D, hmm i wonder how much fps i might get on HL2 after i do these upgrades.

It's a nice system, boots up and goes from the BIOS Screen to the XP Logon screen in 13 seconds flat, and once you click shutdown it's 11 seconds 'til it goes off.....

I know of someone who built a dual processor computer with 2 dual core AMD Opterons and it goes from the BIOS Screen to the XP Logon screen in 5 seconds..... Very cool, and with 2 dual core processors, that means an actual 4 processors running, I think each were 1.57ghz a piece, and they were all 64 bit capable, and he put 8 gigs of ram in it if I remember correctly.....

Also had a couple of SATA RAID setups....

So far as I know it's given him nothing but trouble, particularly with his various RAID arrays...... A defective TYAN motherboard here and there.....

In all, about $3000 went into his, mine, a comparable solution only just a bit slower (5 seconds against 13 isn't that bad  ) for around $600, purchased from TigerDirect (wonderful company, I can order stuff by UPS ground and get it the next night), I'm very pleased.... :D

Sorry about the double post, yes, I did already have the 3 hd drives and the dvd drive, but had to buy everything else.....

I haven't cared for NewEgg much, it seems to me like there product info isn't always up to date......

TCWO (Thompson's Computer Warehouse Online) used to be the good place to go, until they got sued for not paying for their advertisement space at a local hockey rink and went bankrupt....

So yes, I am pleased with TigerDirect, they are only about 5 hours from me, so it does get here by the next day, that is, if I ship it with "Brown"...

Any other questions or comments??

Truthfully, I have no idea, however if I was taking a guess, I guess it'd be okay, perhaps at the max, 3/4 of what it could be at the best....

It'll be good enough, but not the very best..... I have a Athlon 1.05ghz in one of my old computers, and I'm sorta trying to imagine playing that on that computer.......

Like I said it'll be good enough, if you're using DDR ram, then the only way it could become better is a quicker processor, not neccessarily a faster clock speed, but a quicker FSB (frontside bus) speed would help.....
