jimwillsher Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 In XP Pro is there an easy way to prevent the kids surfing the web? There are four users on the PC, each with a separate account. Two people (Admins) need to be able to access the web (dialup) but we want to prevent the kids (users) from getting Internet access. We don't want third-party software (if possible), and we don't want to rely on things like hiding icons. Can anyone suggest a solution? Many thanks Jim Willsher
LS_Dragons Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Read this Knowledgebase article - you should be able to follow this to limit access to Internet Explorer for certain users:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;328326LS_Dragons
gamehead200 Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Have you ever thought about letting your kids surf the net, but set certain limits to what sites they can go to? In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Options>Security and set your limits there! Hope this helps as well!
piaqt Posted January 25, 2003 Posted January 25, 2003 If you're on dialup, don't save the password, and don't tell the kids what it is.Of course, this won't keep them off the net at a friend's computer.
jimwillsher Posted January 25, 2003 Author Posted January 25, 2003 Many thanks for the replies, much appreciated. The purpose of this exercise is not to limit the sites that the kids can see, but to limit the phone bills! 40% of the UK cannot access Broadband, and as such we have to pay for our internet calls. We're just trying to limit our phone bills! Thanks again,JimPS I'll check out the KB article.

It requires third party software! Just look: http://www.superbigbrother.com what I've done.
