TheBlackMan Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 I have an Antec case with two front USB 2.0 slots. Can I connect this to any motherboard that supports USB or must it support USB 2.0?
rikgale Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 AFAIA you can connect them to any mobo with the right connection, but if the board only supports USB 1 then they'll only run and USB 1.Correct me if I'm wrong
Zxian Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Yep, that's how it works. It basically means that they can handle 2.0, but they'll run at whatever speed the board they're hooked up to works at.
Treeman Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 You can always buy a USB 2.0 PCI add-on card pretty cheep!Treeman
TheBlackMan Posted June 12, 2005 Author Posted June 12, 2005 It's an older Soyo. I couldn't tell you exact model and all because my hard drive is corrupt at the moment. I'm on my backup machine!
azagahl Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I have an Antec case with two front USB 2.0 slotsI have that setup to. Man those tiny wires are hard to connect.
aktivedesign Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Yeh standards aren't always followed on some motherboards too which leads to swapping the tiny wires round BTW, what does AFAIA mean? Forgive me if that sounds stupid but I have never come across it before.....nor has google seemingly
azagahl Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Maybe "As Far As I'm Aware"?AFAIK is more common, IMHO.
Seanie's Show Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 You must make sure that the board you are looking for has a USB header port on it, (somewhere to connect all those annoying wires), most of the lastest board carry one now-a-days.
