What are their pros and cons? I use WinRAR, but I like that TUGZip supports 7z. I'm trying to figure out if I should switch or not.

I think winrar supports 7zip.

i actually have both installed, i find it easier to create sfx archives using winrar, but tugzip has a lot more features which is nice, i actually switched to it about 4 months ago from another all in one program, tugzip is way better...........

yeah, go into the options on tugzip and u can choose which to association w/ tugzip..........

i use multiple compression tools at the same time and for different extensions including 7zip and winrar.

i have to say that i preffer winrar over the rest for the amount of possibilities/customization it offers.

Just use TUGZip. 7zip and IZarc are also great programs.

WinRar is nagware. 7z format is also more compressed than rar.

Why would you want to use nagware to produce bloated files?

ZipGenius is also bloatware, don't use it.

7-Zip compresses better than RAR when set to compress in Ultra Mode.

7zip is slooooower extracting/compressing than winrar. rar ratio/speed quality is the best.

i say this b/c i'm writting a review of the latest beta of winrar.

I want WinRAR better than TUGzip, though i like TUGzip more.

TUGzip don't use SFX model “Self-extracting archive for software installation” ,and have some problem extracting RAR multiple compression.

So, i use WinRAR and TUGzip, WinRAR for RAR format, TUGzip for ZIP,7Z and other format.

Here are the best programs:

For good compression and fast speed: WinRAR (currently v3.50)

For excellent compression and avg speed: 7-Zip

For best compression and very slow speed: UHA / WinUHA (use PPM compression)

Btw, no other compressor does 7z as best as 7-zip itself. I've tried PowerArchiver and others, but they seemed to be using older 7z routines. The new 7-zip better compresses to 7z archives.
