Drewdatrip Posted December 27, 2002 Posted December 27, 2002 mate, the post isnet very clear..might wanna rephrase the question or situation...and try to give us a bit more information E.G. Computer types componts, networking specs, Os running etc=Drew
Tinker Posted December 27, 2002 Posted December 27, 2002 Sounds to me like RFI from the 3rd PC. Move the ASDL modem as far away as possible from the interfering PC and try it again...
MSNwar Posted December 27, 2002 Posted December 27, 2002 Maybe there is a ghost in the third PC. Run a trojan cleaner.Maybe the server is trying to locate the third PC on the network and cannot find it.Welcome to MSFN
FthrJACK Posted December 27, 2002 Posted December 27, 2002 Can you tell us what operating systems they all have on them?are you using a Hub? Router? or X-over cables?Wireless?are all the machines identical? if so you could maybe ghost the hard drive over from PC2 onto the hard disk of PC3 and it should work.are they hooked up in a row .. or are PC2 and PC3 connected to the hub/router/or PC1 ?Maybe PC3 has different Connection details in and is trying to connect to your DSL provider when you connecte it up.. and in doing so is knocking the network out ?we could do with more info about youyr setup to really be able to solve this for you... if you could post it maybe someone will spot the problem!Welcome to the Board Lankester!
lankester Posted December 29, 2002 Author Posted December 29, 2002 All 3 pc are running Xp Pro. PC1 has a pci adsl modem and realtek 100mb network card connected via rj45 to hub. This then distrubes 2 rj45 to patchpanels. Rj45 cable then runs to 2 seperate patchpanels then into the individual pc's. Pc2 works fine ICS and network A ok. Pc3 network work is fine but on turning machine on. I have tried several configuration and have discovered that all i have to do is turn the pc on with 10ft of any network cable and knocks out the adsl. However if i use the pc2 and place it where pc3 sits the adsl is ok. Therefore i now believe that is has got to be the PSU!!!!! in pc 3
