getwired Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Um, need more info. Version of Windows? a CD you recorded? An original retail copy? What steps are you repeatedly doing that is resulting in this?
Gouki Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Used nLite to remove bloat from Windows XP SP1 (I dont use SP2)Then, added BTS DriverPacksHad a winnt.sif file made by deployment tools that I upload to I386 folder.Used $OEM$\$1 to put my batch files and$OEM$\$1\install to put the setup filesBut I didnt got to that part, cause I think all the things are correct there. The only problem is win2k.sys! I have been taking these steps forever to made the CD, but when I finally learned to do it right, that happens.I have been doing some reading, and win2k.sys is in a Hotfixe (That I integrated with nLite)EDIT!! It says the file is not copyed correctlyIll leave my last session log file from nLite.[Main]Env = 0.99.9 beta - 1.1.4322.573.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600.0Target = Windows XP Professional SP1 - build godan Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 if i may ask, why are you not using sp2? is there some software that you use that will not run under sp2? unless there is some major conflict with some thing i would strongly suggest slipstreaming sp2. this alone may solve some of your problems. you wont have to worry about many of those hot fixes for one.
Gouki Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 It has allot of things I dont like/use, such as PopUp Blocker, Connection Firewall ... etc.I would just like to keep with my SP1 but the UA install workingThanks for the reply tho
EchoNoise Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 sigh...install sp2 and disable the popup blocker and remove the firewall and internet connection sharing via nlite*sits down on virtual couch*
Mike_Wilson Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 You are not helping him by telling him to install Service Pack 2, if he doesnt wish to use it then why should he?I would recommend creating another cd if possible
Gouki Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Ok guys ... Ive been thinking and I think I will install SP2.Just a few questions:Wich SP2.exe do I download to integrate with nLite? After integrating SP2 with nLite, will it be possible to remove some components on SP2 that I dont want?Im thinking about downloading RyanVM's Pack Lite, for SP2, what do u guys think? Is there a list of services for SP2? Tryed BlackViper but hes down for several weeks now!
godan Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 you want to use this version of the service pack http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en yes it is possible to remove things just like with sp1 plus there are sp2 only things that you can remove as well.the service things is pretty close to the same as before with a few minor things, some are more dependant on others now, but you can search the forum for all that info.ryans pack should work fine for you as long as you are using a english version of xp. also this may help your wmp10 problem as well.
Gouki Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 SP2 slipstreaming requires a WXPCD with no SP on it ... Wich I dont have ... So, ill continue with SP1, but, anyone has any ideas of how I can resolve my problem of that win2k.sys?Thanks
RyanVM Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 SP2 slipstreaming requires a WXPCD with no SP on it ...No it doesn't
Gouki Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Tryed with my Windows XP SP1 CD Gold and it didnt work ... Said it couldnt Slipstream with Software already slipstreamed in itTought it was because of SP1
Gouki Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Tryed with SP1 only.Modem.sys was the file missing now! Thanks for nothing!
RyanVM Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Tryed with my Windows XP SP1 CD Gold and it didnt work ... Said it couldnt Slipstream with Software already slipstreamed in itTought it was because of SP1<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'm guessing it's an OEM (like from Dell) CD and you didn't bother to mention that. In that case, delete the svcpack folder and svcpack.inf and you should be able to integrate SP2 just fine.
