im reading some stuff on the amd dual core cpus coming out soon and they are making an athlon 64 4800 for over $2000 !

I certainly wouldn't mind a 4200+ in my next system. Multitasking performance is abysmal with my Barton system, and given that VirtualPC is one of the main programs I run, that's not a good thing
