integrating hotfix from extracted package?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I recently downloaded a hotfix pacakge that includes a number of hotfixes post to Windows XP Service Pack 2.

However, some of hotfixes were already extracted, and missing the original software update package.

While I can use "/integrate" switch to integrate hotfixes (those of the original software update package files) to my original Windows XP SP2 CD, I cannot find a way to integrate extracted hotfix package to my WXPSP2 CD.

Running "update.exe /integrate" gives me following message:

"Extracted packages cannot be integrated. The /integrate switch must be used with the original software update package"

Is there any way to alter this message and process the update integration from extracted package? I mean other than putting files in "svcpack" folder and editing "Svcpack.inf" file?

Thanks in advance for all your help. :-)

He got them from war59312's site. They're unreleased hotfixes that are available by request only.

And no, you can't use /integrate unless you have the original EXE. My suggestion would be to convert each of those to SFX archives which call "update\update.exe /q /o /n/ z" when run and add them to svcpack.inf.
