if the cd came with the pc, you have an OEM version of windows. try this it will most likely resolve your problem the link will let you change the product key. put your product key that came with the cd. by following the procedure listed there, you will reset whatever interferes with the activation although it says it's for volume licensed version, it should work for you.
-
it sounds like you've used activation crack to bypass the activation do you own a legitimate copy of windows?

Hello I'm trying to share a folder over the network Computer A and B are in different workgroup and B is trying to connect to A I want to make it so that B can access A without a password the folder that A is trying to share with is on a NTFS partition. when B tries to connect, it displays the following message "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Logon Failure: User has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer" putting them in the same workgroup didn't help Simple sharing is disabled and Guest account is enabled. i've tried adding everyone, anonymous, and guest to no avail. I'm guessing NTFS setting is wrong but i'm not very sure any help would be appreciated. Cy.

Hello all so... i've installed win defender in place of MS antispyware just when i thought MS has done an excellent job, I found myself not being able to download anything from the internet. IE tries to download a file and the moment it finishes downloading, the file gets vanished. I wasn't downloading anything weird. i was trying to download a pdf file. i've tried to download something else, same thing happened. has anyone experienced the same problem?

Hello I have an 7-years old laser printer which is only usable on Win9X environment. the manufacturer of this printer went bankrupt before the release of WinXP so practically there's no winxp support. this printer is still in good condition so i'd like to have it around for more years to come if possible Is there a way to use win9x driver on XP?

Why is KB893803 removed from the list? -
you must be referring to the key in UNATTEND.txt that key can be used for installation but it cannot activate the windows nor will let you use windows. it's intended to use for multple system deployment

i thought there were three different versions of cdkeys that go with specfic versions? i mean.. VLM cd key is only usable on corporate version... no? you cannot use VLM key on OEM version. it won't even accept the key

my XP CD came with SP1 on it and MS wants to charge me shipping cost if i ask them to send the original so i had no choice but slipstream on SP1. removing just SP1.cab abd cmpnents folder saved me 30mg i will see what i can remove more to free up the space
-
indeed. i've just compared what's in SP1.cab and SP2.cab and there are files that SP2.cab doesn't contain. will the setup look for SP1.cab if i delete? -- I was wrong. SP2.cab contains everything that's in SP1.cab I think SP1.cab can be deleted safely
-
Hello my slipstreamed XPSP2 CD has SP1.cab on it... I suppose i can delete this since SP2.cab would contain everything that's in SP1.cab Someone please correct me if i'm wrong what are the files that i can delete safely beside the SP1.cab I just want to get rid of whatever files that SP2 doesn't need.

if your school is in Microsoft's MSDNAA program, they let you download microsoft softwares for free while you are a student there. and the XP copy you download will not be a volume license version. you will be downloading a retail version with an unique key given to you.

I've been wondering for quite some time.. it's been 4-5 years since they released WinXp.. and they are still making patches for it. releasing patches every month. I mean... 4 years man there's still a lot to fix?

i know that many people don't have this kinda problem. you don't have this problem, do you? I don't have problem receiving files, i can receive any file i want without changing its extension. I didn't have to edit system registry on my computer either. so there must be a specific reason why her computer is doing it i've been searching for a resolution on the net, yet nothing comes up.
-
so no one really knows what's causing this..?

Hi I'm trying to send an executable file over through the MSN messenger to a friend of mine. the problem i'm having with is that her msn messenger automatically rejects the file transfer request with the following message so i figured it might be a new security measure with MSN messenger beta, told her to login using windows messenger. but the problem doesn't go away. it now prints this message what would be causing this? is it because she doesn't have an antivirus program on her computer?
