fclock Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 See here for how to prepatch sav corporate:http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-s...004060809175548To install latest virus definitions manually:1. download them from http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...s/US-SAVCE.html2. unpack the exe file (it's a rar sfx)3. run `updater /q /extract <somewhere>' to extract the definitions4. move all files except zdone.dat into `c:\program files\common files\symantec shared\virusdefs\incoming'5. move zdone.dat there(there's a page somewhere at symantec site that describes this, but i can't find it right now.)edit: maybe it's http://definitions.symantec.com/defs/update.txt - not sure
-I- Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Thats with SAV (corp edition) with the Norton AV (home version) its also pisible using the redistibution files of the virusinfo-update packs, (find them at download.com) those are execuables of the same updates your norton gets to download but packaged as exe files, not sure if, but they probebly should, have a way to unattend install them.. after you NAV setup...
tommyp Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 With the old Norton, I just extract the exe package as suggested above. However, I place the contents of the extracted files to the VIRDEFS folder of the installation source. Works like a champ for me.
Dumpy Dooby Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Allow me to quote myself...in regards to updating virus defs ... it's really quite simple.1. Go here: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...ges/US-N95.html2. Download file named something like: 20050602-024-i32.exe3. Name file whatever you want. Example: SARC.EXE4. Use simple switches to update defs silently. Example: SARC.EXE /qn
oneless Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 (edited) also work fine for meSARC.exe /Q i use the same example , of course. Edited June 7, 2005 by oneless
