How To Create Registry Tweaks

Recommended Posts

Hi-

I am a registry noob. I have a list of tweaks I make to desktops. I currently do this manually. I am wanting to create a *.reg file that will just blast all my changes in to the registry. I have listed below some of my tweaks I typically do. I know the list is long but if somebody could just point me in the direction how to do this or how to find the keys in the registry I would greatly appreciate it.

thanks

Is there a tool I can use that will track changes in my registry. That way I could make a change figure out which key it is then just export it.

If I want to remove the Recent Documents from the start menu do I need both of the registry entries below?

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

"NoRecentDocsMenu"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

"Start_ShowRecentDocs"=dword:00000000

If you don´t show them I would disable them too. I also have them disabled and shown on my computers too. I don´t like that people see what file is opened last ;).
