@indianarchie, wait more than an hour for replies ;)

that is so sci-fi... i wonder how many "underground" experiments were successful...

@DigeratiPrime, how far are we from the star-trek world? maybe borgs are around the corner...

Well........... So maybe someday we can say 'No, really, your parents were monkeys.' Not a way I would want to end that debate. It pushes the outer edges of what is ok and not ok in human modification. Where do you draw the line, getting braces on your teeth or gene splice to repair a fatal flaw in your gene code.

'Bob comes from a wealthy family. He got the Dynatech UltraSplice on conception.'

'On World News Today: 64.5% of births are from zygote manipulation'

'Terrorists switch irradiated batch for GenepacSP1, 300 births of Epsilon semimorons in the Boston area, Parents shocked'

'More mothers are opting for the full flask maturation of fetuses and the simulated 'birthing' process. Scientists are still worried about odd characteristics of newborns from this procedure due to the lack of real biological interaction prior to birth.'

I read an article once about chimeras, which i used for some project in high school, i can't remember anything about it though.

I know that this does happen in nature, though its very limited, such as wolf+dog, etc.

I dont like the idea of creating a frankenstein though.

As for the borgish stuff, I dont know, but I think people will some mixing of man and machine is due, no almost certain, before the end of this century.

I've got no problem with an adult making the choice to incorporate mechanical devices into themselves. It has already happened to a small degree. Prosthetic limbs that can be manipulated by thought, computers that are manipulated by thought, artificial hearts, dialisis, pacemakers, and so on.

Would you go for having your brain and brain stem dropped into a machine to replace your body in order to live an extra 100 years?

the thought of mixing humans and animals (genetically speaking) freaks me out a bit, and I can't say I look forward to the day I see a dog walking down the street that is conversing with his owner...

obviously it looks like it will be inevitable, and despite any laws forbidding it, it will still get done, but still... i hope i'm dead before then

This has of course already happened...has anyone heard of kevin warwick? This guy has managed to implant some device into his arm, to link his nervous system to a computer. it enables him to perform various functions, such as controlling a keyboard, using the neural implants...I suppose he is he world's first cyborg..

Read more about him on..

Kevin Warwicks official site

Well, I guess we should get ready for Terminator (he was a cyborg, remember?) to arrive!

I am not really looking forward to it though..call me old fashined or whatever..but I would prefer humans to remain humans.
