vegettoxp Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Hey Guys I was wondering is it possible to change the background of the First Setup Screen. The one with everything BLUE. If can, please tell me what DLL file do I edit. Thx again! P.S. Fusion
SiMoNsAyS Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 (edited) do a search on the forums, you'll find instructions from @Astalavista on how you can edit the winntbbu.dll file and a thread with completed ones...edit: after re-reading your post i think you're talking about text-mode setup. at the moment i haven't read about to change it but... you can change the colors of the command prompt so there must be a way... Alanoll Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 edit setupldr.binEnjoy!P.S. That's the majority of txtmode setup right there. But I don't know where to edit. I'd have to disassemble it. Which I won't do for now.
vegettoxp Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 Thx Guys Alanoll do I need to uncompress the setupldr.bin file and look for a dll file in it. Can I use RESOURCE TUNER to edit setupldr.bin. Sorry for to many ?. Thx Again!
mattofak Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 lol, a bin file is a exe in assembly language, you dont need to decompress it. Resource Tuner should be able to change the setting, but you never know with msoft, they might have obfuscated the code!
Alanoll Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 .BIN is actually an assembly file, not a compiled upper level language. You'll have to decompile it to find the exact HEX address to edit.
Sc00by Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 im interested in configuring the first blue setup screen but im having trouble with this .bin file.I tried using some hex viewer but found no reference to editing it. I would like to change the bit at the top from Windows XP Professional to my own version of windows. anyone any ideas on an easy way to edit?thanksSc00by
amp_man Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 use Hex Workshop to open the .bin file, then scroll down to the bottom, and work your way up. I'm still looking for it, but it should be here somewhere. Also, note that in all likeliness, it will have to be the exact same length as the original messageedit: please let me know if you find it, I haven't, and I'm giving up for the night...
RBCC Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I tried this and it was rendered useless, it kept saying "NTLDR not found" I have sent along a picture of the error. Is there anyway around this? . Should I be using a different version of setupldr? if so Where do I find it?John
