gamehead200 Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 Whenever I download a ZIP file, it just downloads it without asking me where I want to save it or open it. What can I do? I have IE6 SP1...
Guest Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Restore DefaultsThat should do it But...I recommend installing WinRAR and it will set it as default for opening zips and that, and ask you to open or save.
gamehead200 Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 Sry GeForce, your first suggestion didn't work ...I don't really want to install more stuff on my computer, I've downloaded enough 2day, but maybe some1 else can help me out!
Reverend Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 OK Gamehead try this.Open windows explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options. On the File Types tab scroll down the bottom of the list to "ZIP".Click to highlight it and then hit the Advanced button.Put a tick in Confirm open after download and click OK.Then close the Folder options window. Now when you download a ZIP file it should ask you where to save it.
gamehead200 Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 Thanks Rev! It worked! Now, why the hell does IE do this ? Don't you think this is a stupid feature ?
Drewdatrip Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 IE doent do it automatically, it asks you everytime what you want to do with the file, somtimes people untick the option that s says" ask everytime" =Drew
