Skitso Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 Hi anyone!Do any of you have experience with the program "Killdisk"?If so what are they?Does the program clear all data on disk, is there stil a way after formating to retreive the from the disc?Thanx for your reply!
ChunkDog Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 I am assuming you are talking about "Active@Killdisk", I have only used the evaluation copy of it, and that only has access one of the five (I think theres five) ways of corrupting the data on the hard drive. It works, but it will take a long time to complete. As far as formating the hard drive, no, that doesn't get rid of the data on the hard drive, and on a freshly fomrated hard drive, I could easily get all the data off of it that was there before the format, and possibly from previous formats.
Drewdatrip Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 If your looking to get rid of all the data on your drive so noone can retrive it, look into a low level format or Zero fillMost drive manufactures include the software in the retail box of the drive, or on thier websites.|Drew|
Jose Sigafus Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 Killdisk is a different program than listed above. It works fine and does eliminate everything on the drive. But be careful using. Only have the drive you want to erase in your system. If you have more it will KILL all of them. There is another program that will do the job; "Boot'n Nuke". Be careful again, as it will wipe all drives installed!
