Lou Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 HiyaI want to upgrade microsoft word as at the moment I am using the 97 version.Problem is I don't know which is best to go for Which out the following is the most reliable and less buggy one:200020032005Your opinions would be appreciated.CheersLou
brian873 Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I have been using Office 2003 for some time now and have not had any major problems and no crashes that I can remember due to word. A lot of docs I use can be big and bulky and it works fine. Athough if you want to furture proof go for the latest.Hail Hail
MCT Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 2005?microsoft word 2003 is what ive used, currently i use OpenOffice 1.1.3
Lou Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 2005?microsoft word 2003 is what ive used, currently i use OpenOffice 1.1.3I can get Word 2005 as part of Microsoft Works. It actually works out cheaper to buy it that way
FAT64 Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Are you sure? Microsoft Works 2005 contains Word 2002, according to the Microsoft website.
Lou Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 Are you sure? Microsoft Works 2005 contains Word 2002, according to the Microsoft website.Well thats what the bloke faxed through to me? Said it was word 2005?
mazin Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Versions I loved most are word 97 and 2003.In my point of view, if I should like 2003 over 97, it would be due to OCR accuracy.
KoolDrew Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I would use Openoffice. It is free and IMO way better
Sunil Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Microsoft word 2003 is the better ver to get. It has better collaberation between the various programs. Hence it is easier for you to work on files between different apps (excel and access). They have better import tools, enhanced security...Most of all its stable.
mazin Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 At work, Secretary Department used versions 2000 then 2002. Version 2003 is more stable and faster than both.
buletov Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 office xp with sp3 the bestoffice 2003 without sp1 sucks bigtime
CoffeeFiend Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 office 2003 without sp1 sucks bigtimeAny reasons to say that? ...I much prefer 2003 sp1 over XP SP *anything* like most people have answered before.
buletov Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 there is some serius bug with opening some files with specific (but standard) content in word...
CoffeeFiend Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Never seen it or even heard of it, and we have tons of people using it who never complained either... I can't see that as a reason to stay with some old version. Can't be that much of an issue.
