fourte3n Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 is there a setting within winnt.sif to set default wmp skin? i believe i have seen one here but am unable to find it.... thanks for any help provided
fourte3n Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 Just going to use this registry setting for now! this is for WMP10 (you will need to change the red area for your own skin)EDIT: Edited to the correct format that is supplied below by simonsays.[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\Skins]"CurrentSkin"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\Administrator\\Application Data\\Microsoft\\Media Player\\Skins\\Snow-black.wmz""SkinX"=dword:00000021"SkinY"=dword:0000000cHope that helps someone...I got this info from the WMP9 thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=10286&hl=** Also check below for the method of including it into your .THEME file (best way)
mazin Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1454471165-1580436667-854245398-1003...This key isn't common on all PCs, is it?
prathapml Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Well, actually WMP skin is settable from the .theme that you use (C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes).
SiMoNsAyS Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 first, to use that regtweak you need to change the [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1454471165-1580436667-854245398-1003 value so...[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\Skins]"CurrentSkin"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\Administrator\\Application Data\\Microsoft\\Media Player\\Skins\\Snow-black.wmz" ...and prathapml pointed the best option, simply specify a .theme file in your winnt.sif and include in the theme the wmp skin you preffer
fourte3n Posted September 26, 2004 Author Posted September 26, 2004 What needs to be placed (settings) in the .theme?
SiMoNsAyS Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 it has take me a time to fin this link...and in winnt.sif[Shell] CustomDefaultThemeFile="%WINDIR%\Resources\Themes\BioHaZaRD.theme"
fourte3n Posted September 26, 2004 Author Posted September 26, 2004 EDIT:it was on the page you were talking about, [other] WindowsMediaPlayerSkin=Holiday.wmzCheers!
mazin Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 [other]WindowsMediaPlayerSkin=Holiday.wmzGood find. Much simpler. Have you tested it?Thanks.
fourte3n Posted September 27, 2004 Author Posted September 27, 2004 will be today... will confirm later but since it is from the microsoft site it should be ok.
SiMoNsAyS Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 it's ok, i've been using a theme with a wmp skin for a long time on my unattended installation.
lilweirddude Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 one question, where does the .wmz file go?or do you point it out in the [other]WindowsMediaPlayerSkin=Holiday.wmz
prathapml Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I think it is to be placed here:C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Skins\So therefore, 1. it is to be placed on the CD at:$OEM$\$Progs\Windows Media Player\Skins\2. Or, you can make an SFX archive to extract silently to "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\Skins\"Does it work now?
lilweirddude Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 ah, thanks but i have yet to try itwill report back later
SlimShady Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Y'know what I want?I would like to turn off that annoying default skin.Does anyone know how?
