Lol I see for 3 seconds the GUI setup/with music

Featured Replies

Not really a problem, but I see the Gui setup/welcome screen in wich you can put all your things like TCP/IP/Time zone settings etc (you know) which begins with the (look a like) movie splash screen and I hear the typical music, but then after +/- 3 seconds it closes and continues (I don't even get to the point that I can fill in info its just for 3sec or so, here's my Winnt.sif file, do you guys see anything weird?

Everything works as it should by the way

(This is when using Microsoft VirtualPC)

There is already topic about this. Since the mini setup where you specify user accounts isn't used (mostly) in unattended setups, the music stops just after she splash screen.

You can modify intro.wm_ (video) and title.wm_ (audio) in I386 folder to change animation and music (credits: Tsunami).

Thanks for the credits buletov :D Like buletov says, this is normal behavior. You can remove OOBE (which is the animation and the wizard you would normally get) by using GOSH's guide.

well, just for the info, you can create your own wma, save it v7 video wma format (not v9, doesn't work) and replace intro.wm_ after you cabinet it.

as for the audio, it can be in both v7 or v9 wma format.

so, to remove the 2-3sec sound, jus make an empty wma file of 10 seconds duration, use makecab to create a cabinet an place it in I386 folder.

I see thanks mate, I'm gonna search for the other thread, should have done before I posted... ;)

Yes, all you have to do is patch syssetup.dll and you won't see it. I've personally verified that it works.

I have read that it works only for SP1, I have SP2 slipstreamed, will it work?

Thanks! :thumbup

I patched my SP2 syssetup.dll without problems. Just use the patcher in the thread.

Thank you very much, I will try it in VirtualPC ;)

Don't forget to run modifype on the dll after patching.

Uh oh another term that I don't know, What I did is this: Use the modfied syssetup.dl_ by Gosh (copied it to I386), then I used the patcher in the thread (oobe cleaner by Nuhi)

And what do I do next?

The DLL gosh posted for for SP1. Also in the thread was a patcher program that somebody wrote which can generically patch any syssetup.dll. You need to actually patch the SP2 syssetup.dll, run modifype on it (so windows setup doesn't complain about an invalid CRC header), then compress it with makecab.

And you don't need to use any other cleaners at that point. With the patched syssetup.dll, the music won't start playing.

Send me an IM tonight after 5 ET and I can send you a ready to go syssetup.dl_ otherwise.

The video will be removed as well ?

Physically removed from the CD, no (as you would expect since we're only patching a DLL file :P), but no, it doesn't play anymore.

Ahh, that's interesting then. I'll search that patched syssetup.dll on the forum right now ;)
