rscosworth Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 Hi guysBeen running XP for a while now, but recently i have been getting the BSOD with this error message, when i restart and send the error report it says that it is BlackIce Defender that is cuasing the problems,Anyone else having this problem, is it blackice?? its all updated etc etcOr if it is BlackIce, can someone suggest a good free firewall like thisThanks guys
lynchknot Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 Same problem with ZA pro - possibly conflicting with NAV2002 - Since installed Sygate Pro - no problems at all.http://www.pcflank.com/art21.htm
MSNwar Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 As xper and lynch said. I used an older version and got a few BSOD so I upgraded to an XP compatiable version. I had fewer BSOD, but I couldn't live with that, so I ditched it and now use something else. No more BSOD!Ditch everything that causes BSOD is my motto. At least till a better version comes along. Like I told my wife ... first BSOD I see ... shes curbed!
Rick Posted September 5, 2002 Posted September 5, 2002 Looks like I need to drop my ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder because it has been causing stop errors for over a year now...I hated it so bad that I decided to buy a laptop and lazy around the house with wireless networking...screw the desktop!!!Rick
FthrJACK Posted September 5, 2002 Posted September 5, 2002 Blackice sucks a**, it doesent stop outgoing connections, like winxp firewall.try Kerio, it runs perfectly on XP and is a **** good firewall. you can also save your permissions to disc and then if you format you can import the list again - which saves a lot of allowing and denying again.its free for home use like Za is, but has none of the problems people seem to get on some machines with XP and Za.http://www.kerio.com
