Two Different XP SP2 from Microsoft.com

Hi,

I have found out that there are two differernt XP-SP2 Network Install File from Microsoft.com

1. http://oem.microsoft.com/downloads/sp2bits/enu/XPSP2.exe

2. http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6...935-SP2-ENU.exe

Does anyone knows what the differnece is?

I wonder what the difference is.

Oh, yes. They do have the same size, but it has slightly different decompressed size.

Better to extract both service packs and run a "WinDiff" on both folders.

maybe one of them won't have the rtm in its tag? The rtm shouldn't bother me but it kind of does.

The bits part of the url should have something to do with it... since it stands for:

Background Intelligent Transfer Service, a new Windows Update related service.

WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe is the official one, and it has the proper MD5 checksum.

I'm second guessing the other one is the network install that was released to MSDN suscribers between Aug 6-8... By any chance, does it not have a signature? Note the URL also starts with oem... (it's the OEM system builder website, so it's definately not for the same "audience")

Personally I'd use the official one, but most likely it's just different packing but same contents.
