j4ever
after doing an unattended install, for some reason whenever i click on an mp3 to play it it asks me what to open it with. i want my default player to be wmp9 and i don't want it to ask me that all the time. i try to click to make this the default program to open this file type, but its no use.I think this is the registry key that is causing me problems:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaPlayer]"GroupPrivacyAcceptance"=dword:00000001I used the key so that I don't get that setup screen on the first run of wmp, but I think it is causing problems. Can anybody help me fix this problem. I want to be able to click on an mp3 and have it automatically open with wmp 9.Example: When I click an mp3 file this pops up no matter if I check the box "Always use the selected program....etc" box or not. rustycaps
Actually I found out after getting that same problem (I'm not the only one I'm sure), that it was the "Delete WMP right-click options" reg entries that caused it for me - i.e. when I deleted those lines from the regtweaks.reg file, then it ran on next install, everything ran fine - I also had them back in for XPSP2 install I did last week, and it stuffed up again. These are the lines I'm talking about, in case you don't know.;Remove WMP Right Click Options (Queue-it-up, etc.)[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{CE3FB1D1-02AE-4a5f-A6E9-D9F1B4073E6C}] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F1B9284F-E9DC-4e68-9D7E-42362A59F0FD}] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8DD448E6-C188-4aed-AF92-44956194EB1F}]I don't know why deleting them causes problems, but it's less of a problem having them there, than having to click on WMP each time you go to open a video/audio file that should default to WMP without any prompting. yoz7120
Thanks rustycaps for pointing this out, been wondering why I was getting the same problem.
rustycaps
The weird thing is though - those 3 lines are still part of the reg tweaks section of the unattended.msfn.org page, so they obviously work for some people, or nobody has bothered complaining about them..... Same problem here. I've searched "LegacyDisable" in the forum and found some posts about it. But it seems that must be done for each extension type file ... not easy then. _Shorty
I noted this same problem and solution in a recent post involving mpeg video files. Although I was having two problems, the open with, and the fact that it attempts to download an audio codec for plain mpeg 1 files for some reason. I still haven't figured out a solution for the latter.http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=25998
